SEOUL, KOREA - AhnLab V3 has become the nation’s representing SW a quarter century after it was first developed in June, 1988. Thanks to the ceaseless technical innovation made for the last 25 years, V3 has become the leading security SW of Korea.
V3 was developed by Ahn Chul-soo in June, 1988 when he was doing medical doctorial studies to cure ‘Brain’, the world’s first computer virus. And then the security SW gained popularity in 1991 when Michelangelo virus got its major kick.
V3 comes from three words starting with the letter ‘V’: ‘Venture’ that has a meaning of challenge and technical innovation, social ‘Value’ which the society needs most and ‘Vision’ that a global company should have.
While responding to malicious codes that are still on the rise in number by 150,000~500,000 on a daily basis, the vaccine has become lighter and faster than ever before. The source technology of V3 is embedded with PCs, servers, mobile security solutions and network security equipment, creating added value.
It also provides security measures that fit the environment of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and plays a key role in responding to APT attacks. The security SW is also well-received by international security SW assessment institutes.
“V3 has become a young man aged 25. Being equipped with technologies that take care of security issues of PCs, network and mobile and cloud environments, the SW will advance into the global arena,” says Kim Hong-seop, the CEO of AhnLab.
안랩 V3, 4반세기만에 국가대표 SW 반열에
안랩의 V3가 1988년 6월 처음 개발된 지 4반세기 만에 국가대표 SW 반열에 올랐다. 끊임없는 기술혁신으로 25년 만에 한국을 대표하는 보안 소프트웨어가 된 것이다.
V3는 1988년 6월 당시 의대 박사 과정에 있던 안철수 창업자가 세계 최초의 컴퓨터 바이러스인 `브레인`을 치료하기 위해 개발했으며, 1991년 미켈란젤로 바이러스가 기승을 부리면서 대중적 인지도를 얻었다.
