SEOUL, KOREA - SK Telecom joined hands with SomaLogic of the United States to increase its presence in the global healthcare business.
The company announced on June 12 that it signed an agreement with SomaLogic which holds next-generation healthcare-related source technologies, to promote joint technology development and business cooperation.
Somalogic was founded in 1999 by Dr. Larry Gold who developed next-generation bio material Aptamer for the first time in the world.
Based on the Aptamer source technology, SomaLogic is now engaged in the development of new diagnosis and treatment for diseases that have been hardly cured or diagnosed.
SK Telecom launched into the healthcare business by acquiring Nano Entek, a specialist in-vitro diagnostics, in 2011 and taking over some stakes in China's in-vitro diagnostic tech start-up Tianlong in 2012.
