SEOUL, KOREA - "Radio" and "high-quality sound streaming" are emerging as hot issues in the digital music market.
The radio service that provides a selection of music tailored to meet the tastes of users is spreading among Korean sites such as MelOn and Bugs after gaining popularity first in overseas sites such as Spotify and Pandora Radio.
Also in vogue is a high-quality sound streaming service along with the popularization of LTE that enables people to enjoy high-capacity sound files on a real-time basis.
On June 11, Apple unveiled iTunes Radio in San Francisco in the U.S. iTunes Radio is a new featureadded to the next-generation iOS7 that is mounted on iPhone and iPad. With this feature, Apple provides a selection of music files based on those users who have downloaded or reproduced.
A string of Korean companies also updated their features to allow users to use radio function on mobile devices. Korea's No. 1 music site MelOn, for example, recently added "smart radio" function to its mobile application.
