SEOUL, KOREA - LG Electronics plans to mount Qualcomm's latest application processor SnapDragon 800 on its strategic smartphone Optimus G2 (tentatively named). An application processor can be described as a brain of smartphone as its function is similar to the CPU of a computer.

An LG official said on June 20 that the company decided to use SnapDragon 800 for its next G Series edition. SnapDragon 800 will contribute to upgrading smartphone performance and enhancing batterylife.
SnapDragon 800 features a 75-percent improvement in performance compared to its previous version S4 Pro. In particular, SnapDragon 800 supports the core LTE-A technology carrier aggregation, enabling users to enjoy two times faster speed. Optimus G2 is expected to be released in the latter half of this year, possibly in this September.
