SEOUL, KOREA - Korea Land and Housing Corp. said on June 19 that it has begun operating a small-sized wind farm in a low-cost lease housing complex in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island. With a 6-kilowatt capacity, the wind power generators will supply electricity of about 10,000 kWh a year.

The wind farm, installed with a budget by the government and the state-run corporation, takes advantage of steady, strong winds in the island all year long.
In the same compound, the company has been running a 54-kilowatt solar power generation system since March this year. With both wind and solar power generators, the company can generate electricity of 69,000 kWh a year. This is equivalent to an amount 23 households can consume in a year, with annual savings of about 6.5 million won in electric bills.
