SEOUL, KOREA - Korean Airlines is set to buy as many as 11 aircraft. Korean Air announced on June 19 that it signed anagreement with Boeing to buy 11 jets at the Paris Air Show. Under terms of the contract, Korean Air will buy five units of B747-8i (Intercontinental) and six units of B777-300ER (Extended Range).

A final contract will be confirmed through further negotiations. Once the final deal is closed, Korean Air will take delivery of the 11 aircraft from 2016 on a gradual basis. The purchase is part of Korean Air's efforts to modernize its fleet through introduction of next-generation high-efficiency aircraft.
Korean Air plans to introduce a total of 64 next-generation aircraft by 2018, including ten units of B747-400, ten units of B747-8i, ten units of B787-9, four units of A380, and ten units of CS300.
