SEOUL, KOREA - The passengers using low-cost carriers on the Korea-Japan flight routes can save more than 30 percent in fares compared to those offered by larger airlines.
According to the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation, and Tourism, the users oflow-cost airliners on the Korea-Japan routes paid 25,000 yen for airfares on average, about 32 percent cheaper than 37,000 yen for larger ones.
Even in the survey conducted with Taiwanese tourists, low-cost airliner airfares averaged at 36,000 yen, about 23 percent cheaper than 47,000 yen for major airlines.
As for the question regarding service satisfaction, about 91 percent of the users of low-cost carriers and large airlines replied that they are satisfied with the services.
A Jeju Air official said, "This survey proved that low-cost carriers are not the second best but the alternative to existing services offered by large airlines, particularly on the Korea-Japan routes."
