Seoul, Korea - Primetech started to produce an auto CCM test socket, whose false malfunction rate fell from more than 10 % to 2%, thereby increasing the efficiency. The defect rate has increased as smartphone cameras have become smaller and thinner requiring CCM with camera lens and connector headed to the same direction. When old method was applied, the connector position distorted and did not fit to the test socket pin when the test socket was closed with connector heading upper direction, sometimes damaging voice coil motor (VCM) and lens.
The auto socket uses a built-in cylinder actuator, with a landing plate on lower plate and pin block on the upper plate. When the robot puts CCM on the landing plate, the upper plate automatically moves and falls down in the vertical direction. The vacuum sensor reads the location value and prevent the fall of pin block when the location is incorrect, which doubles the life of pogo pin (a component checking defects). The actuator is coated with non-reflective material on aluminum alloy and can be used more than million times by just replacing landing plate and pin block. Pogo pin can be applied up to 0.3 mm pitch. Primetech also released a Manual Test Vertical(MTV) with vertical compensation functions, and thereby improving efficiency and supporting all of the auto, semi-auto and manual test equipment sockets.

프라임텍(대표 공호진)은 `자동(Auto) CCM 테스트 소켓`을 개발, 최근 양산에 돌입했다고 23일 밝혔다. 테스트 과정에서 발생하던 가성 불량률을 종전 10% 이상에서 2%로 줄였다. 그만큼 수율도 개선됐다.
CCM 테스트 자동화는 그동안 업계의 숙원이었다. 일일이 사람 손으로 모듈을 소켓에 넣고 뚜껑을 닫은 뒤 다시 빼내야 하기 때문에 수천명의 인력이 필요했다. CCM 업체들이 중국·베트남 등 해외에 공장을 지을 수밖에 없었던 이유다.
스마트폰 카메라가 소형화 되고 두께가 줄면서 카메라 렌즈와 커넥터가 같은 방향을 보고 있는 상(上)타입 CCM이 도입되자 테스트 공정의 불량률도 늘어났다. 기존 방식으로는 커넥터가 위를 바라보고 있는 상태에서 테스트 소켓을 닫으면 커넥터 위치가 틀어지고 테스트 소켓의 핀과 정확하게 맞아떨어지지 않았다. 보이스코일모터(VCM)와 렌즈에 손상이 생기는 경우도 많았다.
프라임텍이 개발한 자동 소켓은 일체형 실린더 액추에이터를 사용했다. 하판에 랜딩 플레이트를, 상판에 핀블록을 각각 달았다. 로봇이 랜딩 플레이트에 CCM을 놓으면 상판이 자동으로 움직여 수직으로 떨어진다. 위치가 맞지 않으면 하판의 진공 센서가 위치 값을 읽어서 아예 핀블록이 내려오지 않는 원리다. 일정한 힘으로 정확한 위치에서 모듈과 접합해 포고핀(커넥터와 접촉해 불량을 검사하는 부품) 수명이 두 배가량 늘어난다. 액추에이터는 100만회 이상 사용 가능하고 랜딩 플레이트와 핀블록만 교체하면 된다.
액추에이터는 알루미늄합금에 비(比)반사 소재를 도금했다. 포고핀은 0.3㎜ 피치 두께까지 적용할 수 있다. 소켓, 포고핀, 액추에이터를 직접 설계해 인천·부천 공장에서 생산한다. 생산 능력은 월 4000개가량이다.
수직보상 기능이 있는 수동(매뉴얼) 테스트 소켓(MTV:Manual Test Vertical)도 함께 출시해 자동·반자동·수동 테스트 장비 소켓을 모두 지원한다. 기존 수동식 장비에서 소켓만 교체해 쓸 수 있고, 수직 보상 기능 덕분에 수율 개선 효과가 있다.
공호진 사장은 “자동화 소켓을 개발해 국내외 스마트폰용 카메라 모듈 업체에 납품하고 있다”고 말했다.
