SEOUL, KOREA - KT, together with its group affiliate, launched into overseas media content markets, expanding the distribution of virtual goods throughout the world.
KT announced on June 26 that it, together with a smart learning company KT OIC, signed a deal with Vietnam’s No. 1 telecommunications company Viettel with 60 million subscribers, to provide the initial volume of 7,000 units of K-Pop bell rings and color-rings.
Under terms of the deal, KT will continue to provide sound sources to Viettel through network connection.
KT, together with KT OIC, has been working on a number of initiatives to create presence in the Vietnamese market, among others, the signing of a contract to provide smart learning contents to the Vietnamese government in December 2012.
KT plans to make bigger forays into Southeast Asia’s media content markets. Armed with Genie K-Pop that provides music services in 47 countries worldwide, and Ustream Korea that provides live broadcasting services in more than 190 countries, KT is making strides into the global markets.
