Singapore, December 19, 2008 – Pixelmetrix, the global expert in Preventive Monitoring for digital television and IPTV networks, received its first order for the Electronic Couch Potato (ECP) and ECP Consolidator from a major IPTV operator based in Europe.
The ECP, an after the network probe, measures and reports end-users’ experience for delivered video services. Integral elements include telemetry and fault information from multiple points along the transmission chain. So is the consolidation of that information to one or more points of central control and observation. As a central management console, the ECP Consolidator works in tandem with a collection of ECPs. It presents the status of all broadcasted channels scanned.
Said Danny Wilson, Pixelmetrix President & CEO. “We are thrilled to be working with such a leading IPTV operator. The ECP is indeed a unique IPTV quality service management offering and it even has a catchy name! More importantly, it serves its purpose to allow operators to monitor their television networks and extract pertinent, meaningful information. At the same time, they can optimize their service delivery and achieve consistent end-users’ Quality of Experience. We are enthusiastic at the prospect of several orders coming in as more IPTV operators look to ramp up and efficiently manage their triple-play service.”
According to Reto Brader, Pixelmetrix General Manager, EMEA, “The customer was compelled by the novel concept of the Pixelmetrix ECP, and is interested in deploying this solution all over their IPTV service platform. The ECP's unique, non-intrusive way of analyzing true quality of experience at the output of the set top box, combined with the flexibility of the solution that allows addressing different applications from software regression testing to validation of the customer experience, for example, of their distributed Video On Demand (VOD), sealed the deal. It is a good start to end the year, and we continue to provide enhanced integrated solutions to help them achieve end-to-end visibility of their network operations.”
Telepresence, a key feature of the ECP, allows remote monitoring of the audio and video output of the STB. This is achieved by encoding the audio and video signals and streaming them back to the central site. In addition, numerous measurements and parameters for QoE and QoS are reported. This facilitates a close audit of what is really going on out there.
Pixelmetrix develops a host of IPTV and Preventive Monitoring systems that offer unique attributes and versatility, allowing operators to achieve end-to-end visibility and keep tabs on their network architecture.
