SEOUL, KOREA – Sales of the Samsung Galaxy S4 have exceeded the 20 million mark in only two months. Asked whether sales of the Galaxy S4 topped 20 million, Samsung Electronics President Shin Jong-Kyun told reporters at Samsung Seocho Town in Seoul, on Wednesday, “We know that. We will officially announce it soon.”
Despite fears over slower than expected sales of the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S4 has proved to be Samsung’s fastest selling smartphone. Sales of the Galaxy S4 surpassed 10 million in one month and 20 million in 2 months. The Galaxy S3, its predecessor, sold 20 million units in 100 days.
As sales of the Galaxy S4 sail before the wind, fears over possible sluggish sales of the Galaxy S4, raised by foreign securities firms including JP Morgan last month, are likely to bow out.
Things are looking up for sales of the Galaxy S4 LTE-A, too. The securities industry predicts the Galaxy S4 LTE-A would sell 20 million – 25 million units.

신종균 삼성전자 사장 `갤럭시S4 판매 2000만대 돌파`
삼성전자 `갤럭시S4` 판매량이 2개월만에 2000만대를 넘어섰다.
신종균 삼성전자 IM부문 사장은 3일 삼성전자 서초사옥에서 기자들과 만나 갤럭시S4 판매 2000만대 돌파를 묻는 질문에 “알고 있다. 조만간 발표할 것”이라고 말했다.
갤럭시S4는 판매가 부진하다는 우려에도 불구하고 삼성전자 역대 스마트폰 중 가장 빠른 속도로 팔리고 있음을 보여줬다. 갤럭시S4는 출시 한달 만에 1000만대 판매를 넘어섰고, 두 달 만에 2000만대 판매에 도달했다. 전작인 갤럭시S3는 출시 후 약 100일 만에 2000만대가 판매됐다.
갤럭시S4 판매가 예상보다 빠르게 늘어나면서 지난달 JP모건 등 등 외국계 증권사가 제기한 갤럭시S4 판매 둔화 우려도 해소될 전망이다.
삼성전자는 최근 롱텀에벌루션 어드밴스트(LTE-A)를 지원하는 `갤럭시S4 LTE-A`를 새로 출시해 향후 판매 전망도 밝다.
증권업계도 갤럭시S4 판매량이 2000만~2500만대에 이르는 것으로 보고 있다.
