SEOUL, KOREA – SK Broadband, one of the largest providers of broadband Internet access in South Korea, said Thursday that it will kick off full HD broadcasts on it IP TV “Btv Mobile.”
SK Broadband said, “Full HD broadcasts deliver images that are twice more vivid than HD images. South Korea’s first mobile IPTV full HD broadcast service will be applied first to three channels --MLB ch1, KBS2 and tvN. And we will continue to expand our full HD broadcast service channels.”
Btv mobile’s full HD broadcasts will be aired at a resolution of 1920×1080, higher than LTE’s 1280×720 pixels.
Lim Jin-chae, head of SK Broadband’s new media business unit, said, “Btv Mobile has the largest subscriber pool in South Korea. We will continue to provide our subscribers with satisfying services just like the launch of the first full HD broadcasts by mobile IPTV.”

SK브로드밴드(사장 안승윤)는 모바일 인터넷(IP) TV인 Btv 모바일에서 풀HD 실시간 방송을 5일부터 시작한다고 4일 밝혔다.
SK브로드밴드는 “HD 화질 대비 2배 이상 선명하다”며 “모바일 IPTV 국내 최초 풀HD 방송 적용 채널은 MLB ch1(류현진 출전경기 중계), KBS2, tvN 등 3개이고 채널을 확대할 예정”이라고 전했다.
Btv 모바일에서 제공하는 풀HD 방송 해상도는 1920×1080픽셀로 LTE 1280×720픽셀 보다 높은 수준으로 현재 최고 수준이다.
임진채 SK브로드밴드 뉴미디어사업부문장은 “Btv 모바일은 국내 최다 유료 가입자를 확보하고 있다”며 “모바일 IPTV 최초의 풀HD 방송 서비스처럼 고객에 감동을 줄 수 있는 서비스를 계속 선보이겠다”고 말했다.
지난해 10월 말 상용서비스를 시작한 Btv 모바일은 류현진, 추신수 선수의 메이저리그 전 경기를 모바일 IPTV에서 유일하게 방송하는 등 차별화된 콘텐츠를 선보이고 있다.
