SEOUL, KOREA - LG U+ succeeded in doubling the speed of data upload. The company announced on July 7 that it succeeded in demonstrating the "Uplink Cooperative Multi-Point" technology that enhances upload speed, together with Nokia Siemens Network.
On LTE network, the maximum upload speed is 25 Mbps in theory but averages at 10 Mbps in reality. This makes LTE users wait for a long time when they upload photos or videos on social networking services.
The two companies doubled the content upload speed by using the Uplink Cooperative Multi-Point at the Sajik Stadium in Busan, Korea.
The Uplink Cooperative Multi-Point that LG U+ uses is a technology that enhances upload speed by reducing the interference of electromagnetic wave at base stations. Unlike existing technology that receives signals by using two antennas, this technology receives signals by using up to eight antennas and selects and combines the best quality signals among those received, while removing interference signals.
LG U+ plans to commercialize the technology at major baseball stadiums, including those in Jamsil and Mokdong in Seoul, Korea, plus university areas.
