SEOUL, KOREA - At the Renaissance Hall in the Guro-gu Office on July 9, student publicity ambassadors and film festival directors of the 1st Seoul Guro International Children's Film Festival were appointed.

Child actress Gal So-eun (age 7) and actor Hwang Yong-yeon (age 13), both of whom are resident in Guro-gu (a district of Seoul), were named as publicity ambassadors of the 1st Seoul Guro International Children's Film Festival.
Gal So-eun appeared in TV drama “Birth Secret” and hit movie “Gift from Room 7” while Hwang Yong-yeon (1st grader at an international junior high school) played a role in the movie “My Little Hero.”

Kim Han-ki, Executive director of the 1st Seoul Guro International Children's Film Festival, officially appointed the two actors as publicity ambassadors of the Seoul Guro International Children's Film Festival and requested them to work hard to promote the film festival.
Then, Lee Sung, Mayor of Guro and the head of the organizing committee for the Seoul Guro International Children's Film Festival, said, “The Guro-gu Office had hosted extreme-short image and film festivals up until last year. However, following a series of internal discussions and reviews, we have decided to hold an international children's film festival that better tallies with our Office’s slogan “Children -friendly District Guro.”

He continued, “Since we hold the first-ever Seoul Guro International Children's Film Festival this year, it would be inappropriate to expect to attain a great amount of tangible results in a short time. Yet, we will gradually address our shortcomings to evolve the film festival into a visual image industry that dovetails with “IT Guro.”” Mayor Lee also called upon film circles to offer their advice and support.

Under the slogan “Digital Guro, Let’s Do Films!”, the 1st Seoul Guro International Children's Film Festival, scheduled to be held for 5 days from October 23, will provide family-unit visitors with opportunities to watch well-made films, both domestic and foreign. The 1st Seoul Guro International Children's Film Festival is expected to make a contribution to the development of the South Korean film industry by introducing excellent international children’s films to domestic audiences.
