SEOUL, KOREA – Samsung Electronics said on Tuesday that it came out on top in the large-sized (over 50 inches) TV category of the “2013 HD TV Customer Satisfaction Report,” filed by the US market research firm JD Power.
JD Power conducted a survey of 6,000 consumers, who bought HD TVs over the past year. The respondents evaluated their HD TVs in seven aspects: performance, credibility, operational easiness, style and exterior designs, functions, price and guarantees.
As a result, Samsung Electronics ranked 1st, scoring 879 out of 1,000 in the category of TVs over 50 inches, followed by LG Electronics (871 points), Sharp (871) and Vizio (868 points).
Satisfied with such rave reviews from US consumers, Samsung Electronics expressed confidence, saying that it will retain the No.1 spot in the North American flat TV market for the 8th consecutive year in 2013.
US market researcher NPD announced that Samsung Electronics’ share of the North American flat TV market held at 28.8% (in terms of cumulative sales) as of May of this year, bigger than the combined share of second-placed Vizio (15.8%) and third-placed LG Electronics (11.4%).

삼성 대형TV, 미국 JD파워 평가 '1위'
삼성전자는 미국 시장조사업체 JD파워가 발표한 `2013 HD TV 고객만족도 보고서`에서 50인치 이상 대형 TV 부문 1위를 차지했다고 16일 밝혔다.
JD파워는 지난 1년간 HD TV를 구매한 고객 6000명을 대상으로 설문조사를 거쳤다. 성능, 신뢰성, 작동 용이성, 스타일 및 외관, 기능, 가격, 보장성 등 7가지 요소를 종합해 평가했다.
그 결과 삼성전자는 50인치 이상 HD TV 부문에서 879점(1000점 만점)을 받아 1위에 올랐다. LG전자(871점)•샤프(871점), 비지오(868점)가 그 뒤를 따랐다.
삼성전자는 현지 호평을 기반으로 북미 평판TV 시장에서 2006년∼2012년 7년 연속 1위를 차지한 데 이어 올해도 그 영광을 이어갈 것이라고 자신했다.
미국 시장조사기관 NPD는 올해 5월까지 삼성전자의 북미 평판TV 시장 점유율이 누적 매출 기준으로 28.8%를 기록, 2위(비지오 15.8%)와 3위(LG전자 11.4%) 업체의 점유율을 합한 것보다 높다고 발표했다.
