SEOUL, KOREA – The LG Optimus G Pro has become the best-selling smartphone model among LG’s entire smartphone lineup in the domestic market. According to LG Electronics, cumulative sales of the LG Optimus G Pro surpassed the 1.1 million mark in sales last week, overtaking the LG Optimus LTE that sold 1.1 million units in the domestic market.
The LG Optimus G Pro, launched at the end of February, sold 500,000 units in 40 days of release and broke the 1 million mark in 4 months. On the other hand, it took the LG Optimus LTE about 7 months to hit 1 million units.
Above all, it is encouraging to see sales of the LG Optimus G Pro, a premium smartphone, outpacing those of the LG Optimus LTE (a mid-range model).
An industry insider said, “As premium models like the Optimus G and the Optimus G Pro, have emerged as million sellers, a turnaround in LG’s smartphone business will kick into high gear.”

옵티머스G 프로, LG전자 자체 국내 최다 판매 모델 등극
`옵티머스G 프로`가 LG전자 스마트폰 중 국내에서 가장 많이 팔린 모델에 올랐다. 22일 LG전자에 따르면 옵티머스G 프로가 지난주 기준 누적 판매량 110만대(통신사 공급 기준)를 돌파했다.
110만대는 LG전자 스마트폰 중 국내에서 가장 많이 판매됐던 `옵티머스 LTE`의 판매량이다. 옵티머스G 프로가 이 기록을 넘어서면서 새로운 LG전자 최다 판매 스마트폰 모델이 됐다.
옵티머스G 프로는 지난 2월 말 출시한 스마트폰이다. 출시 40일 만에 최단기간 50만대 판매 기록을 세웠고 출시 4개월 만인 지난달에는 최단기간 100만대 판매를 달성했다.
빠른 판매 속도에 힘입어 역대 최다 판매 모델 등극은 예상됐다. 앞서 최다 판매 모델인 옵티머스 LTE는 100만대 달성에 7개월가량 걸렸다.
특히 프리미엄 제품인 옵티머스G 프로가 보급형 제품인 옵티머스 LTE보다 판매량이 많다는 점은 고무적이다. 또 다른 프리미엄 제품인 `옵티머스G`도 약 95만대가 팔렸다. 출시 초기 공급량 부족만 없었다면 100만대 돌파도 가능했을 것으로 예상된다.
업계 관계자는 “프리미엄 스마트폰인 옵티머스G와 G프로가 연이어 밀리언급 판매량을 기록하면서 스마트폰 사업의 턴어라운드가 가속화될 것”이라며 “내달 출시하는 G2도 국내에서 최소 100만대 이상 판매될 것으로 기대하며, 글로벌 시장에선 전략 모델 첫 1000만대 판매도 기대된다”고 말했다.
