The Ministry of Information and Communication started a test business that applies wired web services to the wireless environment due to fast growth of WCDMA and WiBro. Web services have been offered wirelessly by the National Police Agency, Korea Meteorological Administration, and Ministry of Justice where the information system could be connected and shared.

The improvement of wireless network devices such as the Google Phone, Yahoo Phone, and Smart Phone with highly advanced technology in an internet environment made the administrative agencies to consider early adoption and convergence of wired and wireless web services.

The MIC will choose the service ideas from public subscriptions. The Ministry will first open established web services that apply various devices such as cell phones, WiBro equipment, smart phones, and telematics. Then the further idea to create convergence services will be up to the subscribers. Once the test business is complete, the result will be uploaded on national web services so that public offices and the private sector can access. Also the web service will be expanded through seminars that share know-how from the experiences of private companies and test business.
