Samsung Electronics Gains Largest Share in U.S. Premium TV Market

SEOUL, KOREA-  Samsung Electronics grabbed the No. 1 spot in terms of revenue-based market share in the U.S. TV market in the first half of this year.According to market research firm NPD, Samsung Electronics grabbed a share of 29.4 percent (in revenue terms) in the U.S. flat panel TV market in the first half. Following Samsung Electronics were VIZIO of the U.S. with 15.9 percent and LG Electronics with 11.3 percent.

Samsung Electronics swept the top spot in all categories, with its share estimated at 26.9 percent in LCD TVs, 54.2 percent in PDP TVs, 36.1 percent in smart TVs, and 45.7 percent in 3D TVs.

In particular, Samsung Electronics saw its market share rise to 33.4 percent in over 60-inch TV category, up 6.1 percentage points from a year ago. Samsung Electronics strengthened its leadership in premium TV markets, including smart TVs, and 3D TVs.
