SEOUL, KOREA- Samsung Electronics acquired a design patent for a smart wristwatch that is applied with a flexible display.According to the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO)'s patent information search system on August 4, Samsung Electronics had applied for patents for three smart wristwatch designs using flexible displays in early this year and completed the registration for two of them on March 18 and May 31, respectively. This fact was revealed through Yonhap News reports.
Flexible display makes it possible to feel comfortable even when wearing the wristwatch that has a bigger screen than those of existing ones. Thus far, there has been no case where Samsung Electronics' commercialized products adopt a flexible display.
