SEOUL, KOREA- The market capitalization of Seoul-located publicly listed companies accounted for more than 85 percent of the market value of all companies on the stock market.According to the Korea Exchange on August 12, the market cap of Korea Exchange- and KOSDAQ-listed companies located in the Seoul metropolitan area was 1,025,251 billion won, accounting for 85.94 percent in total. Of this, the share of market value by companies in Seoul proper, Gyeonggi Province, and the City of Incheon was 57.06, 21.12, and 1.76 percent, respectively.
It was then followed by the companies located in the southeastern Gyeongsang provinces with 9.63 percent (114,834 billion won). Within the Gyeongsang provinces, cities like Ulsan (2.23%) and Busan (1.19%) accounted for about a third of the region's total.
The share of Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces was 3.11 percent (37,049 billion won) and 0.58 percent (6,960 billion won) respectively. That for Jeju was 0.12 percent (1,486.4 billion won).
