According to a report "2Q 2013 Internet Banking Service Trend" published by the Bank of Korea on August 15, the total number of people who have signed up for mobile banking services was 31.31 million as of the end of June, up 11.5 percent (3.24 million) from the previous quarter. The number includes those customers who have registered for multiple banks.
The average number of transactions made on mobile space in the second quarter has been 20.56 million a day, 8.6 percent higher than the previous quarter's 18.93 million. Of these, smartphone-based transactions took the bulk of the transactions with 20.32 million (98.8%). The daily average transaction amount through mobile banking was 1,393.4 billion won, up 10.2 percent from the previous quarter's 1,264.0 billion won. As for smartphone-based money transfer, the daily volume rose 10.4 percent to 1,352.3 billion won.
