SEOUL, KOREA - LG Electronics revealed a teaser video for its brand-new 8.3-inch tablet PC model “G Pad” through YouTube on August 27. The company plans to release the G Pad within next month. The G Pad is small enough to be placed inside a pocket but large enough for users to enjoy movies.
Thus far, LG Electronics has focused primarily on smartphones with the share of its reliance on tablet PCs remaining low. LG Electronics had released a tablet PC Optimus Pad in 2011 but failed to draw big attention.
LG Electronics, accordingly, formulated a new strategy aimed at strengthening its tablet PC brand by making it included in its premium smartphone lineup G Series.
The company plans to kick-start the sales of the G Pad from late September at the earliest, after displaying it first at IFA 2013 that is scheduled to be held in September in Berlin, Germany.
