Samsung Electronics Strengthens Server Business

Samsung Electronics announced on July 4 that it established an aggressive sales strategy to increase its exclusive sales agencies from 3 to 5 by the end of this year and double the number of BPs.

Lee In-ho, managing director of Server Business, Samsung Electronics, said: "we will launch an aggressive sales strategy by increasing the number of sales companies and BPs," adding that "it will be easy for them to secure 20% market share considering large demand from Group affiliates during the second half of this year.

Currently, Samsung Electronics has 110 BPs and plans to increase to 220 and expand stores during the second half in accordance with Group's policy to increase support for BPs. The company is also considering additionally establishing 150 solution partners and 330 partner sales agencies.

Although supply from vendors accounted for 10% of total sales in the first half, the figure is expected to increase to 20% in the latter half. In terms of value, it is expected to sour from 40% to 60%.

"Samsung Group has a lot of interest in strengthening B2B capabilities through Server Business," Lee said. He also explained that server business which connects print or PC will be further strengthened in an environment where only various clients and servers exist.

Samsung plans to sell over 300 sets by the end of this year promoting Korea's first personal super computer Super FLOPS as its strategic product. It aims to increase its market share from 5% in 2004 to 25% by 2009.

Managing director Lee said: "We will raise our market share from last year's 13.2% to 20% this year and 25% next year."
