SEOUL, KOREA- GM announced on September 1 that the global sales of its popular brand Chevrolet are likely to pass 5-million units this year for the first time in its history. Chevrolet was sold 4.95 million units last year, accounting for 53 percent of GM’s total sales of 9.29 million units.

In the first half of this year, Chevrolet was sold 2.5 million units, up 1.4 percent from a year earlier.

A GM official said, “About 65 percent of our Chevrolet sales was achieved in non-North American regions. Chevrolet has enjoyed a higher sales growth rate in the U.S. and emerging markets such as China, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, and the Middle East.”

GM’s first-half sales reached 4.85 million units, a 4-percent increase compared to the corresponding period of last year.
