According to financial information provider FnGuide on September 16 based on data from the electronic disclosure system with the Financial Supervisory Service, the average pay of public company employees has increased 36.2 percent to 56.98 million won from 41.84 million won in 2004. The total number of employees has also risen 38 percent for eight years to 1.38 million in 2012 from 1.01 million in 2004.

 

The level of productivity, as calculated by output per unit salary, was highest in utilities (electric power and gas) at 42.7 and lowest in medical services at 6.6. The productivity of the financial service industry remained at a lower-mid level of 18.3.

 

The compensation of public company executives was about five times of that for rank-and-file employees on average. The compensation level of communications service industry executives was highest at 13.7 times while that for utilities was lowest at 3.6 times.
