A CBSI score below 100 implies that there are more construction companies that see the future outlook negatively that those believing more optimistically.
As for the large-company index that measures the future business perception of large corporations, it dropped 7.2 points to 85.7 in September, again falling below the 90 level in one month. The mid-sized-company index rose 1.9 points to 50.0 while the small-sized-company index moved down to 45.3 from 48.1 in August.
Lee Hong-il, a research fellow with the Construction & Economy Research Institute of Korea, said, "Although the housing market is showing signs of recovery after the government's measures to stimulate housing purchases in late August, the overall industry suffered a setback as investment in infrastructures and large-scale building projects has declined."
