The assistant deputy minister said in a regularly scheduled policy briefing session, "Based on information we have gathered so far, there are many unresolved issues [until the TPP negotiations will reach an agreement]. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a multilateral free trade agreement among 12 countries along the Pacific Ocean including the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Japan.
He added that the TPP involves complicated issues which require treading carefully and the government is trying hard to consider all the pros and cons of the agreement. Earlier on October 14 in a parliamentary inspection session, Foreign Affairs Minister Yun Byung-se had said, "As to the need to participate in the arrangement, all government agencies are in agreement."
