Its operating profit and net profit also rose 110.7 and 673.1 percent to 55.7 billion won and 27.7 billion won, respectively. This is an earnings surprise way beyond the market consensus figures. On the back of the excellent quarterly financial performance, the share price of LG Innotek rose 4.91 percent on the day.
Meanwhile, S-Oil, an oil company jointly owned by Saudi Arabia's Aramco and Korea's Hanjin Group, saw its third-quarter sales revenue decline 4.4 percent to 8,125.7 billion won, with its operating profit and net profit shrinking 95.1 and 55.5 percent to 25.2 billion won and 203.1 billion won, respectively. Although its quarterly net profit turned to a positive realm from a deficit of 22.4 billion won in the second quarter, the figure was not up to the market consensus level.
As for Korean Airlines, its consolidated sales revenue fell 3.0 percent to 3,183.3 billion won, with its operating profit declining 43.0 percent to 160 billion won. Although the airline operator's operating profit has turned to a surplus in four quarters, its cumulative operating profit for this year to date has still been a deficit of 37.3 billion won.
