SEOUL, KOREA- Samsung Electronics reported record-high smartphone sales for the third quarter of this year, renewing its previous record set in the previous quarter. According to U.S. market research firm Strategy Analytics, Samsung Electronics sold 88.4 million units of smartphones in the third quarter.
The company sold 69.4 million smartphones in the first quarter of this year, achieving record-high quarterly sales. Samsung Electronics renewed its record again in the second quarter when it sold 76 million smartphones.

It, accordingly, could set new records in smartphone sales for three consecutive quarters. In the global smartphone market, Samsung Electronics’ market share reached an all-time high at 35.2 percent. In other words, one out of three smartphones sold throughout the world during the third quarter of this year was the one made by Samsung Electronics.
