This is a far cry from only a month ago when mining and industrial activity had marked a 1.6-percent increase, the largest gain in eight months. The same figure had remained in the negative for the first three months of the year, followed by four months of fluctuations within the range of -1 to +1.
By sub-sector, construction and public administration experienced the biggest loss with 2.2 and 3.3 percent respectively. The overall industrial activity also shrank 0.8 percent. Services were the only area that didn't suffer a setback for the month, with a gain of 0.3 percent.
