
SEOUL, KOREA- Hanwha Group is accelerating its move into the European solar power market by completing the construction of a photovoltaic power plant in Portugal. Hanwha Q Cells Korea said on November 1 that it held a completion ceremony for a cluster of solar projects across the Evora and Setubal regions near Lisbon jointly with local partner Martifer Solar. The plant has a total of 74,000 PV modules in place, with a total capacity of 17.8 megawatts that can power about 24,800 households.
The group said that Hanwha Q Cells based on Germany will take charge of business in the European market while Hanwha Q Cells Korea focusing on the Asia-Pacific market.
Earlier in August, Hanwha Group appointed Kim Dong-Kwan, the eldest son of the group chairman Kim Seung-youn and former executive at Hanwha Solar One, as the chief strategy officer at Hanwha Q Cells. Since that time one, the company is putting its effort in winning business in Europe and elsewhere.
