Pan-Pacific is producing about 9,000 tons of the material at its plants in China, Vietnam, and Korea (Cheonan and Gwangyang). A Pan-Pacific official said, "We have been a dominant player in the market with an 80-percent share. But we felt the need to expand the capacity in response to a rapid rise in duck and goose down feather material demand for outdoor clothing items and bedding goods." "In addition we expect to see an improvement in productivity through scale economies and higher yields," he added.
The 14,235-square-meter plant will consist of two "Prauden" lines and one special processing line. Its construction is expected to complete by the year's end and be operational within the first half of next year. With the brand name "Prauden," Pan-Pacific has supplied duck and goose down material to major sportswear brands such as K2, Eider, Kolon Sports, Millet, Cheil Industries, and Columbia Sports.
