SEOUL,KOREA- Jin Air announced on November 4 that it launched cargo transportation services on seven domestic and international routes starting from November 1.The cargo routes where Jin Air will operate include those between Gimpo and Jeju, Incheon and Cebu (the Philippines), Incheon and Vientiane (Laos), Incheon and Macao, Incheon and Hong Kong, Incheon and Okinawa, and Incheon and Sapporo.

Jin Air will transport about 20,000 tons of general cargoes, excluding special-purpose cargoes, per year, using extra space of its existing B737-800 aircraft. The low-cost airliner has formed a task force in September, as part of an effort to secure cargo transportation-related licenses.

A Jin Air official said, “Cargo transportation is expected to serve as a new growth engine for Korea’s low-cost carriers which are facing stiffer competition today.”
