SEOUL, KOREA - MacDonald's Korea said on November 5 it would work with the Seoul Metropolitan City Government to dispatch its 750 delivery men to keep the city's back streets safe from muggers and rapists.
Under a private-public partnership program "Seoul City Community Watchmen," the MacDonald's delivery men will scoot around the alleys on motorbikes and report cases of violence against women, as well as vandalism and any other cases of endangerment to the police. The program is primarily intended to make women feel safe to walk at night.
In the signing ceremony, Seoul city government's deputy mayor Kim Sang-beom, Domino's Pizza Korea president Kim Hee-joo, Seoul city government officials in charge of women's welfare, as well as MacDonald's Korea vice president Won Sung-min, were in attendance.
MacDonald's Won said, "MacDonald's has instituted a variety of social contribution programs to make the community a better place to live. With the latest agreement, we will do our best to keep women residents in Seoul safe from violent crimes by deploying our delivery men around the clock."
