SEOUL, KOREA - Korean Airlines will set out to help farmers struggling against cheap food imports. The company held on November 28 a forum at the Hyatt Regency Incheon in which Korean Air cargo business unit head Cho Won-tae, Incheon International Airport Corp. business operations division head Lee Ho-jin, and others from Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corp. were in attendance to discuss ways to ship out fresh produce through Korean Air freight fleets.

Those present in the forum focused their discussion on how to expand exports of fresh strawberries. Currently domestically produced strawberries are sold mostly to Southeast Asia and Russia. The attendees in today's forum discussed ways to expand exports to other areas such as the United States and Europe.

Earlier in May, Korean Air had signed an agreement with Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corp. and Incheon International Airport Corp. to work together in increasing exports of fresh produce. Since then, the air cargo volume has shot up to 305 tons from 23 tons from a year ago. The airliner will in the future lend support to farmers by adding more export items and helping them participate in international trade shows.
