SEOUL, KOREA - Daum Communication announced on December 3 that the number of monthly usage of its Open API that is offered to external companies and developers passed the 300-million mark as of October 2013.
Daum has provided its search, map and contents on an open API format since October 2006. A variety of companies, including public organizations, are using Daum's open API. By service type, search API accounts for 45 percent of the total usage, with the monthly search data processing estimated at about 120 million.
Daum launched into the online search advertising business this year. Together with search advertising, Daum is providing search API services. The monthly usage of Daum's map API exceeded the 100-million level, with its daily usage volume estimated to have surpassed 4 million.
