From April 19 until April 22, the Korea IT Show (KIS), which aims at being a world-class information technology and communication exhibition, will be held at COEX, Samsung-dong, with the theme of Enjoy Digital Convergence and U-Life.

The KIS is the first ever unified IT exhibition in Korea which is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Communication and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. The two ministries have unified previously existing exhibitions related to information technology and communication including KIECO, IT Korea, Expo Comm Korea, ETC Korea and the DMB Expo.

A total of over 500 enterprises will participate, including over 350 Korean corporations such as Samsung, LG, SKT and KTF and over 150 foreign corporations like Qualcomm, Sharp and Canon. Over 100,000 items will be exhibited, including those in the fields of next-generation telecommunications technologies and equipment; digital multimedia machinery and tools; PCs and peripheral devices; software; intelligent home networks and their machinery and tools; embedded software; Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) machinery and tools; electronics parts materials and modules; and e-business related machinery and tools.

Over 1,000 buyers will participate in the buyer consultation meetings. Famous buyers from the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, will participate. Contracts worth over US$30 million are expected.

Also, it is planned that through the Asia Telecom and Information Exchange Forum (ATIE), which will be attended by organizations and corporations related to civilian information and communication technologies of the main countries of Asia, information and communication networks will be strengthened.

Duringd this period, 30 forums will participate in the IT Forum Korea 2007, managed by the Telecommunications Technology Association. Through over 60 IT-related topics, they will exchange information on the latest technology trends regarding domestic and overseas technology standardization and IT fusion, thereby predicting the IT technologies and market of the future.

Especially, Korea has been famous as a test bed for the world's major corporations to test, in advance, the global marketability of the latest products and the latest technologies. This is because there is a lot of interest in high-tech IT products in the country and the reactions of the consumers are quick. Hence, it is anticipated that during the Seoul exhibition Korea's major IT corporations and prominent global IT corporations will introduce their highest technologies and products at the exhibition.

In the year 2008, the Korea Association of Information and Telecommunication will have over 800 global IT corporations participate. It will include products in all the fields related to information technology and communication. It will strengthen the scale and content even more and, therefore, develop the KIS into the representative exhibition of Asia that is tantamount to CeBIT and CES.
