SEOUL,KOREA - Toyota ranked No. 1 in global sales terms last year, followed by GM and Volkswagen. Japan’s Toyota is estimated to have sold 9.96 million cars last year throughout the world, including those sold by its subsidiaries, including Daihatsu and Hino.
Toyota plans to release its official sales record for 2013 at the end of thismonth. Following Toyota was GM of the U.S. which announced on January 14 that it sold 9.71 million cars last year, up 4 percent from 9.29 million units a year ago.
Germany’s Volkswagen Group also announced that it sold 9.7 million units last year, up 5 percent from 9.3 million units a year before. The group’s flagship brand Volkswagen marked a positive year-on-year growth of 3.4 percent to 5.93 million units.
