On February 12, Navistar held a press conference at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul where it declared the official releasing of its commercial truck “International ProStar.”
A Navistar official said, “We have not considered entering into the Korean market. However, as we gain price competitiveness thanks to the tariff benefits created by the passage of the Korea-US FTA, we changed our mind and decided to target it.”
Other competitive edges Navistar has include higher fuel efficiency and easiness in service repairs. International ProStar has an aerodynamic design, with its fuel efficiency being 9-10 percent higher than Europe’s general cap-over trucks.
Navistar did not disclose its sales target but unveiled its hope to take some share from European truck brands in Korea.
