BOHEMIA, NY - Fishbat, a leading Long Island web design company, reviews Facebook's new News Feed redesign, one year after the social network originally announced the change.

According to a March 6th article posted on Mashable titled "Facebook Unveils News Feed Redesign, One Year Later," the social network originally announced a significant redesign to its News Feed about a year ago. However, Facebook just began rolling out its redesign last Thursday. Though Facebook boasted a big change last year. However, the article says the new design is subtle, with minor font changes, coloring and more prominent photos. Other changes include larger buttons on the "People you may know" section, and slight style changes on icons for "update status" and "add photos" tabs.

The article says, "The new look will not impact the way stories or ads are surfaced, however. Images for both ads and organic stories will be the same size, as they are on mobile."

Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at fishbat, a leading Long Island web design firm, says the News Feed redesign is reminiscent of Facebook's mobile app version. "In terms of the colors and icons, Facebook's web version is beginning to look a lot like the mobile version," he says. "We've seen this with other major social networks like Twitter. As more people begin to use their mobile apps and smartphones to browse social media, it makes sense for networks to make similar design changes to their browser versions. It will improve usability and prompt more people to use their browser versions rather than strictly the mobile apps."
