Samsung Mobile Display said on May 27 that it has developed the world's largest flexible AMOLED display at 6.5 inches. AMOLED stands for active-matrix organic light-emitting diode. The company developed the new flexible display with high temperature-resistant materials to overcome the shortcomings in existing display panels.
Samsung Mobile Display's new flexible display has a mere 1cm-wide radius of curvature, five times smaller than existing liquid crystal display panels. It also responds more than 1,000 times faster and requires less power than existing LCD panels. The new flexible display can be rolled up and carried like a newspaper or put around the wrist like a watch, a Samsung executive said.
