SEOUL, KOREA - General Motors of the United States announced on March 17 a recall for 1.55 million Buicks and Cadillacs due to defects in airbag operations and brake performance.This recall comes in one month after it recalled 1.6 million units of Chevrolet and Pontiac. In other words, GM recalled more than 3 million vehicles in just two months.
The reason for the recall that GM revealed is the malfunction of the side airbag (1.18 million units), dashboard (300,000 units) and brake (64,000 units). The GM brands subject to the recall include Buick Enclave, GMC Arcadia, Cadillac XTS, and GMC Savana.
A month ago, GM announced a recall for 1.6 million units for seven models, including Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5.
Against this backdrop, there are concerns that GM could follow the footsteps of Toyota which recalled more than 10 million vehicles in 2009 which led to the deterioration in consumer confidencein the brand.
