Organized by the Korea Information Processing Society, the annual conference is being held jointly by 15 agencies and organizations including the Korea Software Industry Promotion Agency, under the joint sponsorship of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Electronic Times.
On the first day the conference was attended by many IT-related officials and IT policymakers including Dr. Park Chan-mo, special advisor to the president for science and technology. Participants reached a consensus on ways to create new added value and jobs and achieve corporate growth by fusing software technologies and different industries together.
Park spoke about virtual reality technologies, for which he reiterated the importance of making the most of the young creative minds in finding a new virtual reality market. His speech was followed by policy presentations by Chun Sang-hun, information and communication industrial policy officer at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy; and Hwang Chul-jung, director-general of the Korea Communications Commission's Network Policy Bureau, who stressed the need to create jobs through promotion of the information and communication industry.
Meanwhile, Kim Hyung-kook, chairman of the Presidential Committee on Green Growth, gave a keynote speech focusing on the Low Carbon, Green Growth policy. The conference will continue until May 29.
