SEOUL, KOREA - Naver plans to set up “Line Webtoon” brand within the second half of this year, aimed at releasing its global webtoon service in a format of mobile web and application. The company plans to promote synergies with its global mobile messenger Line but no details have been made yet.

Naver plans to display Naver Webtoon, translated in English, at the London Book Fair which is scheduled to be held from April 8 to 10, where it will carry out business consultations with foreign companies.

Naver plans to service Line Webtoon in English and Chinese, the languages that more than a half of the world’s people use. English is used in various markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, while Chinese is the most used language in the world.

Naver is now engaged in selection and translation of the cartoons that it will release in the different language markets, on the basis of pre-analysis of the popular genres of foreign cartoon markets. Naver intends to release as many as 40 cartoon titles in each language market.
