SEOUL, KOREA - After sliding for more than 15 months, the prices of LCD panels for TVs are showing signs of rebounding. Overall, the declining pace has slowed, with the prices of some items taking an upturn.
According to market research firm WitsView, the prices of 32-inch and 40-inch open cells stood at US$79 and $121, respectively, in early April, up $1 each compared to the figures marked in late March. The overall panel price, however, fell 0.1 percent on average.
In another tally by market research firm DisplaySearch, the prices of 32-inch open cells stood at $77 in early April, up $1 compared to the prices marked in late March. During the same period, the prices of 39-inch and 40 to 42-inch panels each moved upward to $116 and $132 from $115 and $131, respectively.
Key factors behind the upturn in the prices of TV panels include the increase in the output of 40-inch-plus large TVs, including UHD TVs.
