SEOUL, KOREA - Mercedes-Benz achieved the highest sales in Korea last month thanks to the rising popularity of high-end models such as S Class and E Class.According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association on May 14, Mercedes-Benz sold 3,310 cars in April in Korea, the highest since it established Mercedes-Benz Korea Corp. here.
This figure is up 30.7 percent compared to 2,532 a month ago and up 42.4 percent from 2,324 a year ago.This was the first time for the Germany company to sell more than 3,000 cars in a single month since it established Mercedes-Benz Korea.
The hike in sales of Mercedes-Benz Korea was driven by E-Class models which were sold 1,666 units last month, emerging as the best-selling model among import cars.
E 220 CDI Avantgarde ranked No. 1 in overall import car sales ranking last month. E 300 came on top among gasoline models, while E 220 CDI Avantgarde topped among diesel models.The sales of E Class models totaled 4,289 units in the first quarter of this year, up 61.6 percent year on year.
