SEOUL, KOREA - GM Korea announced on May 20 that it signed an agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan City government to promote the diffusion of electric cars. This agreement is based on their mutual recognition that it is important to save energy, reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases, and air pollution in transportation.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two parties will review and improve the way to form an electric car market, covering the expansion of a recharging infrastructure and the establishment of an electric car repair network.

GM Korea has marketed the Chevrolet Spark EV from August 2013. With a permanent magnet motor-based drive unit, Chevrolet Spark EV has a maximum output of 143 hp and a maximum torque of 57.4 kg.m.

The Chevrolet Spark EV, whose maximum driving distance of 135 kilometers in one charge, is assembled at GM Korea’s Changwon plant. Its sales stood at 1,220 units last year and 576 units in the January-April period this year in the domestic and North American markets.
