SEOUL, KOREA - Fashion Group Hyungji will move into the golf wear business by acquiring the domestic rights of the Jean-Charles de Castelbajac brands. The company said on May 25 that it recently signed an agreement to take over master rights to all 315 trademarks including women's, men's, children's apparel lines, accessories, shoes, and sunglasses.
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, also known as JC/DC, is a brand established in 1978 by a French fashion designer of the same name. Since 2011, Castelbajac Korea has operated the domestic business. The global business is run by a company named PMJC with the headquarters in Paris.
Fashion Group Hyungji will relaunch the JC de Castelbajac brands next spring, with up to 100 retail outlets in the first year. Its target customers will be men and women in their 30s and 40s who play golf. Within three year, the company will increase the store numbers to 3000, with sales revenue of up to 200 billion won.
Choi Byung-oh, Fashion Group Hyungji chairman, said, "By combining the brand value of JC de Castelbajac with Hyungji's know-how in production, sales, and marketing, we want to make golf wear as one of the new growth engines. Under the brand name of Castelbajac, we will offer a variety of apparel lines to cater to the rising interest in outdoor life."
