The competition in the original equipment tire area is expected to get fiercer as Kumho’s rival Hankook Tire has already achieved this status in September 2013.
A Kumho Tire official said, “We will supply original equipment tires to Audi’s compact sedan A1 in the latter half of this year. This tire supply deal is now in the final stage. We will expand the scope of supplies starting from the A1 toward upper-class models such as the A3 and A4.”
They added, “Our technological quality is already proven as Audi made sure all of its vehicles produced in China are to be mounted with our tires.”By signing the original equipment tire supply deal with the German headquarters of Audi, Kumho Tire hopes to establish a stronger presence in the global OE tire market.
