By using a supercharger and a turbocharger and lightening the weight of the engine, the Drive-E Powertrain realized both strength and excellent efficiency.
The new 2.0-liter engine which is applied for the powertrain is a 4-cylinder engine but can perform like a 5- or 6-cylinder engine by maximizing the amount of air influx.
The number and size of cylinders is reduced compared to that of existing 5-cylinder engines, with its weight being reduced by 60 kilograms compared to 6-cylinder engines, thereby improving fuel efficiency up to 26 percent to the maximum.
The Drive-E Powertrain will be applied for all of S60, V60, XC60, XC70 and S80 gasoline and diesel models and will be officially released in Korea in June.
